#ROW80 Round 4 2012: Next to the last for this round

I’ve been spending a lot of time with Mary the last few days. She got an iPad from Santa John, and I’m working with her to get it set up so that she has everything she wants on it and doesn’t have to ask for my help that often. She’s starting to be able to do things on her own, which is really great. Doesn’t do a lot for my writing life, but she’s happy, and I’m having fun helping her to learn.

So, here we are on the next-to-last Wednesday of this round. Even if it isn’t, the world comes to a screeching halt a week from Friday, when the Aztec calendar runs out. No, I don’t believe that, but it’s as good an excuse as any.

Writing: Aside from the two “Two For Tuesday” posts (last Wednesday’s special on Dave Brubeck and yesterday’s on Steve Wariner) and this summary, I’ve done practically no writing. I’m at a loss for new ideas, and the story I’ve been writing since last month is at a standstill while I do some historical research and explore a few ideas that I had while I was writing the thing. Meanwhile, I’m working my way through learning Scrivener; I’m thinking of loading the story I’ve been writing into it and seeing if maybe that gets me back on track. I pantsed my way through the first twelve thousand words, now I think I need to go back and outline the story. Call me “Ready, Fire, Aim.”

Visiting: I actually made it to several blogs and left comments. Nowhere near where I wanted to be, but getting better.

Tweeting: Did a little more this week.

Reading: I’ve been reading Scrivener for Dummies, and have noticed that it’s a little short on examples.

So, I hope everyone has a good week slouching toward the end. Anyone else feel brain-dead this time of the year?
