Joined the White Sox: 8/15/67, as the player to be named in the Ken Boyer trade that sent J. C. Martin and Bill Southworth to the New York Mets.
Left the White Sox: 5/14/69, traded with pitcher Bob Priddy to the California Angels for Bobby Knoop.
White Sox statistics: 167 games, .248 average, no home runs, 16 runs batted in.

Sandy, a second baseman, had two sons, catcher Sandy Alomar, Jr. and Hall of Fame second baseman Roberto Alomar, who also spent time on the South Side. Sandy Jr. spent 2001 and part of 2002, 2003-2004, and part of 2006 with the White Sox, where he batted .257 with 19 home runs and 94 RBI in 265 games. Roberto spent parts of 2003 and 2004 with the Sox, batting .239 with four homers and 25 RBI in 85 games.

  1. You had me at the White Sox. I found you through the A to Z Challenge with my Random Thoughts blog but I actually have a sports related blog as well, mainly about White Sox cards. Wish I would have thought about the idea for that blog. Looking forward to what else you throw up for the challenge.

  3. Though I am not a sports fan myself, I am happy to see the subject during the challenge! I have to say it isn’t something I saw a whole lot of last year! 🙂 And this is pretty neat to read about. 🙂
