Man, I’m organized. I’m actually writing this two weeks ago.

Okay! Seeing as how I had a bunch of stuff on my plate last time around and didn’t get it accomplished, I’m going to back off this time and keep my objectives down to a manageable number. So, pick a number between one and three… Two, you said? No, I’m sorry, the correct answer is the square root of five. (2.23606797749979….)

But seriously….

I have but two objectives this time around.

  • I’m doing the Ultimate Blog Challenge this month. The challenge is to post once for each day of the month, i.e. 31 posts. I was thinking about that, and I said, why stop there? There are other bloggers that post every day, I like blogging that much, and besides, it’s a good creative exercise. So, Objective #1: Post to the blog every day this round.
  • Springpad is now shut down, and, for better or worse, I’ve chosen to go with Evernote. I’ve paid for Evernote’s premium service, so I want to get the most out of it. So, Objective #2: Use Evernote daily, and learn what it has to offer. I’m most interested in seeing what it does for my idea generation.

And that’s it, apart from my duties as a sponsor for this round. I’m not listing them as an objective, because they’re more of a responsibility.

So, are you doing ROW80 with us? If so, what are your objectives?

Straight ahead!

  1. I agree that blogging every day is a worthwhile goal. It is great practice and keeps the creative juices flowing. When I blog on a strict deadline, I feel like I am working for a big newspaper, or at least working for something that pays. And blogging pays in the satisfaction of getting your writing out there.

Best of luck achieving your goals!

  2. My goal is to finish my WIP, you know, the one I wanted to have finished in the first round of ROW80. That includes the first draft, revision, plus a cover design and cover copy. I don’t think I could blog every day, but plenty do and enjoy it. Good luck, and be sure to share your Evernote insights!

  3. Seconded – blogging daily is hard, but very rewarding it you can keep up with it. From what I know of Evernote, you should find that you can achieve both your goals at once – using Evernote to research and draft your daily blog posts.

I find blogging weekly to be hard enough, so I’ll be cheering you on this round. All the best with everything.

    1. That’s what I’m going to try for, anyway. I figure if I can get it done for one month, why not keep going?

I also use Scrivener for writing blog entries, but I’m anxious to see what difference, if any, Evernote makes. I think I’ll use it quite a bit.

  4. A blog-post-a-day is deceptively hard! I can never pull it off, so best of luck to you, John! Sometimes, it’s important to keep things simple, especially when it’s so easy to take on way too much!

    1. It is hard… I learned that last October when I did the Ultimate Blog Challenge (see here). But it’s something I want to do, and though I might not make it every week, it’s worth trying. Thanks, and I hope you have a good Round 3!
