Five By “O” Artists #atozchallenge #mmmm

A mash-up with Monday’s Music Moves Me!

Real simple post: five by artists whose names start with “O,” first, last or only.

Oliver – “Jean”: The theme from the 1969 movie The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, starring Miss McGonigal Maggie Smith.

Olivia Newton-John – “I Honestly Love You”: her 1974 hit, leaving us teenaged boys a little dreamy-eyed…

Ottmar Liebert – “Barcelona Nights”: Haven’t heard much from him lately, but he was popular on all the smooth jazz/New Age stations in the 1990’s. First track off his 1989 album Nouveau Flamenco, which doesn’t have a lot of flamenco music on it.

The O’Kaysions – “Girl Watcher”: Some blue-eyed soul from Wilson, NC. This not-terribly-PC song by 2016 standards was #5 on the Pop chart and #6 on the R&B chart in 1968.

Billy Ocean – “Caribbean Queen”: Considered the top R&B artist in the UK in the early to mid Eighties, this reached #1 in the US and the UK in 1984.

And that’s it for Monday’s Music Moves Me and for the letter “O”!

Monday’s Music Moves Me is sponsored by X-Mas Dolly, Callie, Stacy, and Naila Moon, so be sure and visit them, where you can also find the Linky for the other participants.

  1. What is it with guys and Olivia N-J ? My hubby was googly about her too. Must’ve been that black outfit she wore in Grease, huh. Oh well. I really like Ottmar Liebert…I used to play that CD all the time when I was working in a music store (long time ago.) Haven’t thought of him in ages. Thanks 🙂

    1. We were crazy about Olivia long before “Grease,” believe me. She was gorgeous, and her singing had this innocent quality to it that every guy felt like she was singing to them and them alone.

    2. Ottmar Liebert played flamenco-like music, not quite the hardcore stuff that Paco de Lucia played, but still quite good. Did you ever hear Strunz & Farah? Amazing stuff.

  2. Good job coming up with all these O artists. I did A-Z Challenge for about three years, but decided that I didn’t have the time these past few years. Maybe next year.

  3. You definitely have some sweet tunes here my friend. Blending them in with the letter “O” is even sweeter!!! Have a rockin’ week!

  4. Absolutely LOVE “Caribbean Queen but had never seen the video for it.” I think “I’m a Girl Watcher” is my husband’s theme song – LOL Thanks for some fun today.
