In an act that should prove once and for all the power of the limiting instruction, Judge Kurtz told the jurors to, as the report put it, disregard “the restraints, … the incident involving [the] pen, and the defense attorney’s sudden absence.”

Apparently the defendant in a criminal case had a penchant for stabbing his lawyers in the neck with a pencil. I can’t do the story justice. Read the whole thing.

  1. Focus on the matter at hand – that’s all that counts. …sounds like a certain political campaign. 😛 I remember the Aerowax commercial, or parts of it, even though I wasn’t born until ’64. Could it have been around that long?
