TWTW will return in its usual time next week.

Yes, it’s “Just Jot It January” time again! Linda Hill, who hosts this as well as Stream of Consciousness Saturday and One-Liner Wednesday, tells you how to play at her site. Today’s prompt comes to us from Barb over at Teleportingweena: SPIDER

David Bowie’s backup band in the Seventies was known as The Spiders from Mars. They were Mick Ronson on guitar and piano, Trevor Bolder on bass, and Mick “Woody” Woodmansey on drums. They were featured on Bowie’s The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars, Aladdin Sane, and Pin-Ups albums.

From Aladdin Sane, here’s “The Jean Genie.”

    1. They’re still more or less around, and I think they bought the Hostess name and are making Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Ho Hos etc. as well as their snack cakes. The Dolly Madison cakes in the ad kind of remind me of the Hostess ones, anyway. I’m pretty well up on my junk food…. XD

  1. Hey, cool facts about the band. Had not heard this before. I like the Peanuts ad…and in fact we just bought some of the chocolate Zingers today! šŸ™‚

    1. I think Dolly Madison is still around, and if I heard correctly they bought the Hostess brand and are now making Twinkies etc. Little Debbie is still around, as are Tastykakes and the vending-machine brands that aren’t sold in the stores (Wise might be one of them). In addition to music, I’m also pretty knowledgeable on junk food. XD

      1. I spotted those Hostess cupcakes from time to time. I like the chocolate ones ofcourse but haven’t eaten one in years. One of my local market’s bakery made a copy of a Hostess chocolate cupcake and I did try it once. It was good. šŸ™‚

        1. They used to make them in orange flavor, too. Those were good. Remember Sno-Balls, like a chocolate cupcake (with the cream filling) covered with marshmallow and coconut? And the fruit pies were fantastic…
