Hope you like the badge. Again, it’s my old high school, modified lovingly by Retype so I can use it as a badge.
I talked about Creedence Clearwater Revival in an earlier post, so run over there if you want to see what I said then.
When I started high school, Creedence had just released Cosmo’s Factory, maybe their most successful album. It produced six hit songs, which were released as three double-sided singles. The last of these, “Lookin’ Out My Back Door” b/w “Long As I Can See The Light,” reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, while Cash Box had “Lookin’ Out My Back Door” at #1.
Late in 1970, the band released Pendulum, which produced one two-sided single “Have You Ever Seen The Rain” b/w “Hey Tonight.” The single rose to #8 on the Hot 100, while “Have You Ever Seen The Rain” rose to #3 according to Cash Box in 1971.
Creedence issued one more studio album, Mardi Gras, in 1972. By then, rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty had left the group, wanting to start a solo career. The album featured songs by bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug “Cosmo” Clifford as well as by guitarist and vocalist John Fogerty, probably looking to keep the band together. By the time the album was released, the band had called it quits. There was a live album, Live In Europe, released in 1973, but by then the band had fallen from memory and it only reached #143. An inauspicious end for one of the more popular bands of its time.

Hi,
Here from the A-Z blog. Will try to create a separate blogroll for A-Z 2017 – my own solution to going listfree. Thanks for all the support and all the work that you all do.
Best wishes,
Nilanjana.

Now, there’s a rock band! It makes me think of the music then and the music now and it’s hard to come up with a real rock band that exists today. They all seem to be Whitney little boys

I stopped listening to popular music in the Nineties. There was nothing thay could compare with the music I grew up with.

I love CCR forever. I like John Fogerty’s album with the animal face on it…can’t recall its name — it’s good, but it’s not CCR good.

“Eye of the Zombie,” I think (I had to look that up). He’s ended up bitter and angry about everything, and was suing everyone, even his former bandmates over the CCR name. Sad… you listen to his solo stuff and realize how much the other guys added.

Yes, that’s it.
Yeah, it’s unfortunate he took a good thing for granted. Live and learn.

Problem is, John doesn’t seem to have learned.

Great band to feature and good picks. Someday, you should compile a list of good bands that died because someone wanted a solo career. I guess, after a while, the band gets old, but…

I love CCR! Have been a fan for decades. My favorite by them is Fortunate One…
Great picks for today
