Monday’s Music Moves Me: Tina Guo

I’ve introduced several musicians I’ve found on YouTube and Instagram here (Angelina Jordan, Yvette Young, Lari Basilio, Jamie Dupuis), and here’s another: cellist/composer Tina Guo. An incredible musician, and drop-dead gorgeous (sorry guys, she’s engaged). I’m not going to spend a lot of time talking about her here, but you might want to have a look at her Wikipedia page, her website, her IMDb page, her Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter accounts, and her YouTube, from which all of these were taken.

I’ll just do a short playlist today, but trust me, there’s plenty more on YouTube, Spotify, and iTunes. Her latest album, Game On!, is available on all the various music services.

  1. Wonder Woman Main Theme She played it in the soundtrack, as I recall, tho I’m not sure she dressed like this.
  2. Crystallize Here she’s covering a song written by another YouTuber, violinist Lindsey Stirling.
  3. Pokemon Medley Here she duels with herself, acoustic vs. electric cello.
  4. The Legend of Zelda A medley from the anime series.
  5. Oogway Ascends (from Kung Fu Panda) The two-stringed instrument she’s playing is an erhu.

I hope you’ve enjoyed Tina Guo as much as I’ve enjoyed bringing her to you. That’s Monday’s Music Moves Me for March 19, 2018.

Monday’s Music Moves Me is sponsored by X-Mas Dolly, Callie, Cathy, and Stacy, so be sure and visit them, where you can also find the Linky for the other participants.

  1. John,

Wow-za, beauty and talent! Tina really rocks the floor with her amazing cello playing! I thoroughly enjoyed listening to these five selections. Thanks for the introduction and for joining the 4M crew on the dance floor.

    1. You don’t typically think of the cello as a rock instrument, but she rocks the hell out of it. When I first saw pictures of her on Instagram, I thought she was a model, she was so gorgeous. The way she plays the cello just makes her even more beautiful. Wikipedia said she started playing the cello at 9, and her parents (who are both musicians, her father a cellist, her mother a violinist) made her practice 8-10 hours a day. Malcolm Gladwell said it takes 10,000 hours to get really good at something, which means she was probably this good when she was 12 or 13. Just amazing… and she seems so outgoing and friendly as well.

  2. Wonder Woman huh? Unfortunately I never watched the show, so I never heard this amazing (sorry the word I wanted to use I couldn’t spell) song! This woman is phenomenal I must say, but the video is really something! Thanks for sharing my friend and have a rockin’ week!

    1. She really impressed me, not with her looks so much as her music (but the looks didn’t hurt). She seems like a good and friendly person, and looks like she’s having fun with it.

  3. She is excellent! She has an amazing talent and is quite striking in her looks so I wish she wouldn’t go all bondage sex in that video with the Wonder Woman theme. The second one was good but again, sexy crap which is not needed but that cello is not a cello..what is that instrument called. I love the last song with her beautiful outfits which showcases her talent best and one Ian not distracted by sexy stuff.

    1. I think in the first video she was trying for a Wonder Woman look. I never even thought about bondage sex when I saw it.

She’s playing an electric cello in most of these. Granted, it doesn’t look much like a “real” cello; it’s kind of like those headless guitars that were popular a while back.

The costumes she was wearing in that last video are gorgeous, aren’t they?

  4. Hi John,
Wow, Tina Guo sure makes the cello sexy! That’s definitely an interesting instrument (as it that cool ehru!).
Thanks for the introduction. I liked that you included her speaking at the end of the last video. Was nice to hear from her.

    Have a great week,

  5. This is a woman for the digital era; sexy, friendly, approachable, and WOW WHAT A MUSICIAN SHE IS! I could wish for more traditional dresses like #5 and less Lara Croft or whoever’s vibe she was trying to rock in #1. Guess I’m a little old fashioned because it distracts from the stupendous music she is playing. But that’s just one old lady’s opinion!

    1. I think she was going for the Wonder Woman look in the first video, at least the one from the movie. Personally, she sounds just as good regardless of what she’s wearing.
