“At The Sunrise” #JusJoJan

Toortsie provided today’s prompt, “sunrise.” How about “At The Sunrise” by Chicago, from their third album, Chicago III?

Now here’s John Wayne for Camel cigarettes.

  1. Really great post !!! I love music too and you always come up with really great songs ❤ I thought I knew all of Chicago’s music. This is one I don’t think I’ve heard…

  2. John,

I don’t remember this song. After Googling it I soon realized why since it came out in 1971. I had not known who Chicago was when I was 10 years old. I’m not sure at one point in my young life this band was introduced to me but it might have been about the time DH and I began dating because that was one of his favorite groups. Thanks for the song introduction!

  3. Oh, my goodness, I haven’t heard that song in forever – thanks for bringing it back! Happy Thursday, John!

  4. I like Chicago because, to me, they were more than just a regular band due to the orchestral style they brought. Boy is that commercial eerie in some ways since John Wayne was such a heavy smoker at 4 packs a day. He had to have a lung removed due to cancer in the early 1960s. Mind you, I actually believe he got his cancer from that horrible movie he made, The Conqueror. So many died of cancer from that film because they filmed in the desert right near a nuclea testing site. To this day the radiation at the movie site is still dangerously high

    1. Chicago could do rock, jazz, funk, and even classical well, but I think they got pigeonholed in the ’80’s as a band that did ballads. They still did rock and jazz, but that wasn’t what was selling. A lot of people bought their albums for the hits because they pretty much had to (in the pre-MP3 days).

That might be true about “The Conqueror.” Hadn’t thought of that…
