Two For Tuesday: Chris Botti

Trumpeter Chris Botti has backed a lot of artists, including, according to his website, “Sting, Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga, Josh Groban, Yo-Yo Ma, Michael Bublé, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, John Mayer, Andrea Bocelli, Joshua Bell, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and even Frank Sinatra.” He’s on the road close to 300 days a year, including with Peter White for White’s Christmas concerts.

Botti has recorded ten studio albums for Verve Forecast, GRP, and Columbia (where he was introduced by Bobby Colomby of Blood Sweat & Tears). The last four of his albums have reached #1 on the Jazz Albums chart, and he won the 2013 Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental Album for Impressions. Here is “Over The Rainbow” from that album.

From his 2003 release A Thousand Kisses Deep, here is “The Look Of Love,” featuring Chantal Kreviazuk on vocal.

He’ll be appearing tonight at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach, Florida, tomorrow night at the Capitol Theater in Clearwater, Florida, and Friday at Raising Cane’s River Center Arena in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He’ll be quite busy, from the looks of his schedule.

Chris Botti, your Two for Tuesday, March 12, 2019.

  1. Yeah! I like this quite a bit. The first one made me feel like I was in some film noir with his beautiful rendering of this classic song. The second film is also moody and great and I always liked Chantel’s voice.
