Just thought of this: From their 1969 album Willy And The Poor Boys, Creedence Clearwater Revival, “It Came Out Of The Sky.”
Oh, it came out of the sky
Landed just a little south of Moline.
Jody fell out of his tractor
Couldn’t b’lieve what he seen, oh.
Laid on the ground a-shakin’
Fearin’ for his life.
Then he ran all the way to town
Screamin’, “It came out of the sky.”
Well, a crowd gathered ’round
And a scientist said it was marsh gas.
Spiro came and made a speech
About raising the Mars tax.
The Vatican said, “Woe, the Lord has come,”
Hollywood rushed out an epic film
And Ronnie the Popular said
It was a communist plot.
Oh!
Oh, the newspapers came
And made Jody a national hero.
Walter and Eric said they’d put him
On a network T.V. show.
The White House said, “Put the thing in the Blue Room.”
The Vatican said, “No, it belongs to Rome.”
Jody said, “It’s mine
But you can have it for seventeen million.”
Oh, it came out of the sky
Landed just a little south of Moline.
Jody fell out of his tractor
Couldn’t b’lieve what he seen, oh.
Laid on the ground a-shakin’
Fearin’ for his life.
And then he ran all the way to town
Screamin’, “It came out of the sky.”
Oh!
This special edition of Stream of Consciousness Saturday is brought to you by Mars Candy Company, makers of Milky Way candy bars. Everything’s for real in bars from Mars!
I kinda doubt the same claim can be made about their more recent creations.
Great choice!

Just like the stuff we read in the papers today. You are making me hungry with that Milky Way bar but it looks like different packaging from present times.

The ad is probably from the late ’50’s or early ’60’s, and they’ve changed the packaging a lot over the years (and the bars, at least in the case of 3 Musketeers). Remember the old ones? I do vaguely.

The 3 Musketeers packaging, remember lighter background that Milky Ways.

3 Musketeers was always in a white wrapper, as I recall. The Milky Way and Snickers wrappes were a light brown or green. Much different thn today.

Great song by CCR’ I’d forgotten this one. Yep, the old commercials were better than the ones today.

I watch them when I can. Sometimes, I’m in a place where the sound wouldn’t be appreciated.
