Two For Tuesday: Chuck Loeb (Encore Presentation)

Another encore presentation, this from almost exactly six years ago.

I have wanted to feature Chuck Loeb for several weeks now, as we did Fourplay three weeks ago and Chuck replaced Larry Carlton as the guitarist in 2010. Today’s videos come from a gig at London’s Pizza Express in October 2010, courtesy of Jimi King at Sky.FM Smooth Jazz. Personnel include Chuck on guitar, Oli Silk on keyboards, Frank Felix on bass, and Andrew Small on drums. The first tune here is “Sarao,” originally recorded on Chuck’s 2002 Shanachie release All There Is. The second is a cover of “Rock With You,” which Michael Jackson originally recorded on his 1983 album Off The Wall.

For once here, I’m going to shut up and let you enjoy. You can find out more about him at his official website. Enjoy!

Sadly, Chuck passed away in 2017 at the age of 61. He was just a few months older than I.

  1. He is talented that’s for sure and what a shame that he died way too young. Cancer can come on so fast for some people and they can die within a month where others it is years. I don’t know why that happens and it’s so sad

    1. Cancer is a real bugger. It can stay hidden for a long time, and by the time it presents itself it can be too late. That was the way it was with both my parents and my mother-in-law.

      1. He might not have known either- well he might have as I do not know his bio – but sometimes things sneak up on folks (and have you heard of Karoshi? Term from Japan for a condition known as death from overwork
        – some people run so ragged and it catches up with them- not saying this guitarist had that – but we just never know – eh?

          1. Ah – that makes sense – I have heard about cases where that happens – and him being nearly the same age as you must be a little chilling – and funny how as we age – 61 seems young – when I was a teen I remember when 25 sounded old – lol
