Oh, good ones, John! I still hear “Working for the Weekend” by Loverboy on 97.1 – The River, and who could forget those red leather pants!
They took over for 96 Rock when 96 Rock decided to go all boy bands, I think. 97.1 used to be Fox 97 (Good Times And Great Oldies), remember?
I don’t recall but we didn’t move here until 2012.
Oh gosh that first song was played to death when I decided to go on this long walk with a bunch of other high school students. They brought a ghetto blaster and played this song over and over. I know your second song well and fits the theme but never heard of the last song. I can’t help but think of I will walk 500 Hundred Miles for a song for the weekend because I find it fun to listen to. As for summer, Beach Boys songs come to mind especially the last big hit they had …man I can’t remember the name of it. But one of the refrains says “Come on pretty mama.” As for the last one..Dolly Parton’s Working 9 to 5.
96 Rock here in Atlanta used to play “Workin’ For The Weekend” on Friday afternoons at 5. It’s one of those “anthem” type songs.
I’m not sure what Beach Boys song you mean, because they aren’t one of my favorite bands. I’m sure we’ll figure it out eventually.
Brilliant choices you have inspired me again 😁
I’m happy you liked ’em.
I did too 💜

Haven’t heard Chad and Jeremy in a long time. Love that song.
Thanks for catching that! I had said Peter & Gordon, for some strange reason…
