Monday’s Music Moves Me: “Perry Como’s Christmas In Paris” (1982)

There were a lot of Perry Como Christmas specials out on YouTube, and this is the one I liked best. Joining Perry are Angie Dickinson, French chanteuse Line Renaud, The Boy’s Choir of Notre Dame, the Andre Tahon puppets, the Can-Can dancers of Montmartre, the Paradis Latin performers, French balladeer Jairo, and clothing designer Pierre Cardin. Enjoy!

Monday’s Music Moves Me is sponsored by X-Mas Dolly, Callie, Cathy, Alana, and Stacy, so be sure and visit them, where you can also find the Linky for the other participants.

  1. As I age I’ve become a little cynical so seeing all the green trees made me think “this isn’t Christmas Eve”. But then Perry Como drew me in, between his voice, his signature final song “Ave Maria” and him singing Ave Maria inside the Notre Dame Cathedral. Thank you for the flashback, and I hope you have a Merry Christmas.

  2. Oh my gosh, what a wonderful idea. I think I’ll go snatch my last cup of coffee for the a.m. and watch Perry like I did years ago with my Mom. She loved him Thanks for the memories my friend. Have a wonderful day! Oh and it’s mine and the hubby’s 20th yr. wedding anniversary! I hope he remembers. I planted many hints all over the house. hehehehe

    1. Let’s hope he gets the hint. Happy anniversary!

I hope this worked: I figured that there was a playlist’s worth of music in these shows (not to mention laughs and merry-making), and the annual Christmas specials that used to be a TV staple have all but vanished. Glad this brought back good memories for you!

  3. John,

I remember watching Perry Como as a kid at Christmas. I loved those specials for the holidays. There’s a good chance I saw this 1982 episode but I was in college at the time so I don’t know if I had my head in the books or not. These old singers like Como really make Christmas a bit more special because it’s their mewsic I remember most and hold such warm, fond memories. Thanks for joining the 4M dance floor today, my friend. I hope you and Mary have a wonderful Christmas Day!

    1. I think going with the Christmas specials this year worked well. There’s about as much music in each as in one of my standard playlists, and it’s something many of us remember from years past. I’m happy you enjoyed it!
