The diminutive Brenda Lee (she was under five feet tall) was nicknamed "Miss Dynamite" because she did a song called "Dynamite" at the start of her career. Her voice was mature enough to hide the fact that she was only thirteen when she recorded "Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree" back in 1958. It didn’t chart until 1960, when she became more popular. That year, it reached #14 on the Hot 100 and #3 on the Top Christmas Singles chart. It’s a perennial favorite, and was released earlier this month and currently sits at #3 on the Hot 100.
Merry Christmas from all of us here at The Sound of One Hand Typing!
