Song of the Day: Muddy Waters, “Got My Mojo Workin'”

Thought I might do some blues this week. I’ll start with Muddy Waters, who might be the person who created Chicago blues after moving north from Mississippi in the late 1940’s. "Got My Mojo Workin’" was his theme song, and he’d end every concert with it. This was recorded at the 1960 Newport Jazz Festival and received a Grammy nomination. The band consists of Otis Spann on piano, James Cotton on harmonica, Pat Hare on guitar, Andrew Stephens on bass, and Francis Clay on drums.

  1. John,

This is a new-to-me song. I had to laugh at the name of the song. Great title, though. 🙂 Now to get my mojo working this morning. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!
