Thought I might do some blues this week. I’ll start with Muddy Waters, who might be the person who created Chicago blues after moving north from Mississippi in the late 1940’s. "Got My Mojo Workin’" was his theme song, and he’d end every concert with it. This was recorded at the 1960 Newport Jazz Festival and received a Grammy nomination. The band consists of Otis Spann on piano, James Cotton on harmonica, Pat Hare on guitar, Andrew Stephens on bass, and Francis Clay on drums.

You said it. That’s one of those songs that everyone does, but not like Elmore…

Sorry, I meant Muddy. I’ve been talking about Elmore a lot.

He was my favorite, for certain.

He used to get up and dance to that one every time I saw him, even when he was older and couldn’t move as well. Always a high point of his shows.

John,
This is a new-to-me song. I had to laugh at the name of the song. Great title, though. 🙂 Now to get my mojo working this morning. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

Muddy’s a classic, and no one does the song like he does. Time to shake your money maker (that comes later this week)…
