We mentioned on Sunday that Astrud Gilberto was the wife of singer/guitarist João, who had joined with Stan Getz on the 1963 album Getz/Gilberto, which also included Antonio Carlos Jobim on piano. "Triste" is from his 1977 album Amoroso and was written by Jobim. The song’s title means "Painful." You can find the Portuguese and English lyrics here.

A very nice song! You changed your format again. I like it this way because I don’t have to keep scrolling down to find stuff!

Actually, I haven’t changed anything (at least I don’t think I have), but if you like it, I’ll keep it…

Well, your links and badges were on the right hand side, then they were at the bottom, and now they are back on the right hand side. I noticed this morning your posts seem to one continuous stream and I couldn’t find the comments. Perhaps, a WP glitch? Anyway, you may want to check it out.

Sounds like you might have been looking at the front page rather than the post page. If it happens again, click on the post title, and that should bring up the post itself.

I wonder how popular bossa nova is in France….? I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Actually it’s quite nice to listen to something in a foreign language, and just to hear the words and the sounds without getting too hung up on the meaning.
Even a lot of English songs, the tune may be catchy but the lyrics are awful! That’s one thing I always notice about SLS – often the lyrics are no more than toddler-talk.

I tend to shut the lyrics out as a rule, which turns the voice into another instrument. Portuguese sounds like a pleasant language, but I don’t have to know it to like the music.
