Jolly Joker… #JusJoJan

The lovely and talented Sauyma gives us today’s prompt, "busy." I’ve been doing these the day before and scheduling to be released at 3:30 AM Eastern time (UTC-5), but I didn’t get around to it yesterday. I wasn’t busy, just not terribly motivated to get it done yesterday.

One of my favorite ways of expressing how busy I am is to say that I’m busier than a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest. This reminded me of something totally off the subject, but it made me laugh…

Years ago, a friend of mine told me about a high-school classmate who had a wooden leg. He had all kinds of stories about how he’d walk down the hall with a compass, thumbtacks, a knife or something else sharp stuck in the leg. If you didn’t know him, it was really disconcerting. One day, evidently, he went to the nurse’s office, sat down and turned the "foot" on that leg all the way around. When the nurse came out and asked him what was wrong, he said he had twisted his ankle…

I thought the stories were funny, and I also thought they were tall tales until I met a guy in college who had gone to school with the guy and told me the same stories. For some reason, it made the whole thing even funnier.

Like I said, has nothing to do with "busy," but I thought it was funny.

This is another entry into Linda Hill’s Just Jot It January. It’s a little late, but if you want to play anyway, she has the rules at her place. Now a word from AT&T and your local phone company. They hear you!

    1. Oh, he absolutely did, I have no doubt. I heard about him from several people who went to high school together but didn’t run in the same circles.
