Roberta Flack was a sensation when she hit the airwaves in the early ’70’s. By 1974, she had earned four Grammy awards, including one for this song, which she shared with singer/songwriter/keyboardist/arranger Donny Hathaway. This is from their eponymous first album together, and it peaked at #5 on the Hot 100 and spent a week at #1 on the Easy Listening and R&B charts. Oh, and it won the Grammy for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals in 1973.

I always liked the two of them singing together better than separately.
