Cathy Kennedy noticed that all the songs this week had "Sunset" in the title. Problem is, we got to today and I didn’t like any of my options, so I threw this one in.
When I first heard this, I thought it was "I Can’t Go For That" by Hall & Oates, so when the vocal started up I was surprised. This is from Simply Red’s 2003 album Home. It reached #7 on the UK Singles chart, #3 in Canada, and #1 on the US Dance chart in 2003.
A nice song John. He took the place of Rod Stewart in the Faces in a reunion and did a great job.

Hadn’t heard that. You’re right, it’s a good song. Amazing what they can do with sampling.

I did a little online research and the resemblance is more than coincidental. More than sampling; I suspect it must have been done with permission. This is a new song to me (the Simply Red song, that is) and I did enjoy it.

David Jeffries of AllMusic said that they also managed to lift the vocal hook from Ace’s “How Long.” I ike the songs they borrowed from, so it’s a natural I’d like this.

Youβre right, it does have an uncanny resemblance to the Hall & Oates song.

I like it, glad you expanded the option

I was pretty much faced with either using “Sunrise, Sunset” from “Fiddler on the Roof” or using a song I didn’t know, or expanding. I’m happy I chose the latter.
