For this round, we have three different songs named “Cherish,” one from the ’60’s, one from the mid ’80’s, and one from the late ’80’s. Let’s get into them now…
This was on The Material Girl’s 1989 album Like a Prayer. It was released as a single and peaked at #2 on the Hot 100 (behind Janet Jackson’s “Miss You Much”) and #1 on the ADult Contemporary chart in the US, and went to #1 on both the RPM Hot Singles and Adult Contemporary charts in Canada.
Kool & The Gang
This was the third single from Kool & The Gang’s 1984 album Emergency, released in 1985. It spent six weeks at #1 in the Adult Contemporary chart, was certified Gold, and it would ultimately become the biggest Adult Contemporary hit of the ’80’s.
This was released in 1966, spent three weeks at #1 on the Hot 100, and was the #2 song for the year. It also reched #1 in Canada.
So, there are our three contestants for this round. For those of you who may have forgotten what to do now or are doing this for the first time (anyone can vote), here are the instructions:
- Listen to the songs.
- Decide which song you like the best.
- Vote for your favorite by leaving me a comment with your choice. If you feel like telling us why, feel free.
