This edition of The Week That Was is brought to you by new blue Ajax cleanser. Get out of the kitchen fast! (Now in plastic, too!)
This time of the year (i.e. April) is always busy, because I’m hurrying to finish my entries here and on the A to Z Challenge blog, reply to comments, and make comments on the blogs that visited me. I’m just a little frazzled, mostly because I haven’t been out of the house all week, between Covid-19 and allergy season. I sincerely hope things get back to normal sooner rather than later.
I started The Week That Was during the 2015 Challenge, after I had started blogging every day the previous July. I realized I would need something to do on Sundays in order to keep my string of consecutive days (which now stands at 2,105) going. It made its first appearance on April 5, 2015, and it’s been appearing ever since, like Gasoline Alley or Dick Tracy in the Sunday comics. So, let’s start the sixth year… right now.
- (Song Lyric) Sunday: Dan Hill, “Sometimes When We Touch”
- Monday: Nils, “When I Think Of You”
- Tuesday: 2 of Clubs, “Walk Tall (Like A Man)”
- Wednesday: Faron Young, “Walk Tall”
- Thursday:Dire Straits, “Walk of Life”
- Friday: Robert Cray, “Walk Around Time”
- Saturday: Love Unlimited, “Walking In The Rain With The One I Love”
My theme is “re” followed by the letter of the day, then the remainder of the word.
The subject was walking, so I produced a list of ten “walking” songs, as per usual. And I used “walking” as my theme for “Song of the Day.”
Questions included whether I preferred pancakes, waffles, or French toast (yes), whether a person’s name influences the person they become (sometimes yes, sometimes no), whether things would be better or worse if we looked at what’s right rather than what’s wrong (yes), and whether math was invented or discovered by us (I chose the latter).
The encore was from September 2016, when Julie London was the featured artist.
I offered my opinion on how we would know when we were winning the battle against Covid-19.
I shared a few videos that made me laugh.
I shared the Top 10 from “The Big 89,” WLS in Chicago, from April 1973.
The prompt was “deep,” and I talked about the phrase “that’s deep,” among other things.
Monday’s a freebie day music-wise, so I haev to think of something good for that. The rest of the week is generally in the hands of people who put up the prompts, so we’ll see what they have in store. And, of course, letters E through J for the A to Z Challenge.
