Monday’s Music Moves Me: Happy Birthday, Mary!

Today is my beloved Mary’s birthday, and I thought it’d be nice to choose the top 15 songs from the year she was born. See, it started out as the top 10, but we have a couple of artists who made the chart more than once. I’m just going to play them and list them out, if that’s okay…

  1. Harry Belafonte, “Banana Boat Song (Day-o)”
  2. Elvis Presley, “Teddy Bear”
  3. Buddy Knox, “Party Doll”
  4. Debbie Reynolds, “Tammy”
  5. Everly Brothers, “Bye Bye Love”
  6. Perry Como, “Round and Round”
  7. Elvis Presley (again), “Too Much”
  8. Sonny James, “Young Love”
  9. Guy Mitchell, “Singing The Blues”
  10. Pat Boone, “Don’t Forbid Me”
  11. Jimmy Dorsey, “So Rare”
  12. Tab Hunter, “Young Love” (yes, the song charted twice, and both times it reached the Top 10.)
  13. The Diamonds, “Little Darlin'”
  14. Pat Boone (again), “Love Letters In The Sand”
  15. Elvis Presley (again), “All Shook Up” (this was also the #1 song the day she was born)

Happy birthday, again, sweetheart! Love you with all my heart! That’s Monday’s Music Moves Me for April 20, 2020.

Monday’s Music Moves Me is sponsored by X-Mas Dolly, Callie, Cathy, Alana, and Stacy, so be sure and visit them, where you can also find the Linky for the other participants.

  1. Happy belated birthday, Mary! Your birth year had a lot of good music. I get to hear the Banana Boat song and Little Darlin’ (how I love to sing to the background vocals in that one) and Bye Bye Love – thank you both!

  2. Awww How sweet! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARY! Aww You’re such a good hubby! Belfonte what a great party tune. My Mom use to watch Perry Como on TV every time he was on. All these tunes are of my brother’s era. I use to like the Everly Brothers. Great bunch here my friend, but it’s a beautiful day out today and we’re taking Charlie for a walk. So, I have to brush off for now. I hope your lovely wife has a great day! You treat her nice you hear? A little dance in the front-room would be nice and romantic. 🙂 Have a great evening HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARY!!! hugs

    1. Mary says “thanks!” Perry used to have a weekly show. He was a real decent guy: one week he inadvertently offended someone with a joke. He felt so bad he apologized on the air. You think they’d do that today?

  3. 🎶Happy Birthday to you!
    Happy Birthday to you!
    Happy Birthday, dear Mary!

May you have many more wonderful birthday and may all of your wishes come true, Mary!!

What a sweet tribute to someone who means so much to you, John! I know your girl really appreciates the special attention. Thanks for sharing this special occasion with the 4M gang, my friend. Have a boogietastic week and y’all stay healthy now.

  4. Happy Birthday to Mary! This is a lovely tribute and cool about that song being #1 when she was born. I need to look up what was #1 when I was born.

  5. Happy Birthday Mary – you both have as happy a day as you can in these strange times. Love the choice of music – and am glad you gave us 15 …most I know and enjoy. Take care and enjoy yourselves … Hilary
