Song of the Day: Frank Sinatra, “My Kind Of Town (Chicago Is)”

Frank Sinatra produced and acted in the 1964 movie Robin and The 7 Hoods with Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Bing Crosby, Barbara Rush, Peter Falk, and Edward G. Robinson. It took the legend of Robin Hood and transplanted it to Chicago in the 1920’s. It was in this movie that today’s song, “My Kind Of Town (Chicago Is),” written by Jimmy Van Heusen and Sammy Cahn, made its debut. It was nominated for the Oscar for Best Original Song, but lost to “Chim Chim Cher-ee” from the soundtrack of the movie Mary Poppins. Nonetheless, the song has had a great career and has become a standard.

  1. Always enjoy a Sinatra song. Remembering your Mother and my sister, Bunny, today.
