Share Your World For April 27, 2020

It’s that time again! Melanie, who has the rules at her site, asks a bunch of questions and I answer them. Here’s this week’s bunch, but first a warning: I’m in a very fractious mood today.

Do guns protect people or kill people? Or both? Neither. They’re inanimate objects.

Is it more important to be respected or liked? I prefer to be liked, and I think respect is a big part of being liked.

Is having a big ego a negative or positive trait? Whether or not someone has a big ego is a matter of opinion. Most people who would say that someone has a big ego would probably consider it a bad thing. In fact, they’d probably use the term “big ego” as a negative, kind of like “ugly as a mud fence” or “smells like urine.”

Depending on your point of view, is death a new beginning? Someone (might have been me) said that it’s possible that the light you walk into at the end of life is the light you first see when you’re born. If that’s the case, then yes. If not, then I have no idea.

See you in the funny papers!

  1. Hi John – I really like Dan’s approval of your answers and couldn’t improve on them … well done – all the best – Hilary

  2. I am all for banning guns. Now, no person needs a huge gun arsenal unless they are a collector or a museum. Guns are the easiest form to kill so gun control..all for it. I prefer respect because many people didn’t like John Wayne but many did respect him. I do believe there are people you may not like but your respect them for their beliefs or their way of thinking even though you could not live with or near that person. As for ego, I think of my Oma who said, anything good, if taken to the extreme, is not good. I believe it is good to have a healthy ego because it can make a person not listen to the negative junk in one’s head. Now when an ego becomes too big, it becomes unhealthy because it is narcissistic which actually belies the ego in the first place. My hubby has a good ego and I don’t think of him as arrogant but there are others who have an unhealthy ego…I won’t name anyone orange but I will name my best friend’s ex who has the ego the size of Cleveland but is totally corrupt as a result. I do believe Death is but a door to another world …I’d like to think that.

  3. Thanks John for Sharing Your World!! You know, you (and one other blogger) so far have put your finger squarely on the answer to the gun question. “Guns don’t kill people, people do” – the gun is a tool or a weapon only. Inanimate as you said. Bravo! It’s very interesting indeed to read the different perspectives about the questions this week…could host (potentially) some very intriguing discussions! Thanks again! 🙂
