The Bee Gees included this song on their 1970 album Two Years On. It was the only single from that album, and it did quite well, reaching #3 on the Hot 100 for their first Top 10 hit (Record World and Cash Box both placed it at #1). It was also a Top 10 hit in Canada (#1), Australia (#9), New Zealand (#10), Brazil (#2), Denmark (#3), The Netherlands (#3) and Belgium (#8).

I really liked this era of Bee Gees when it was released.

I wasn’t thinking of that when I chose it, but you’re right, it is.

You have a knack for picking out songs I love but hadn’t thought of in a while. Thank you!

You’re welcome! I find that all the recreating of old radio station surveys that I do on Fridays is a great way to remember the old classics.

Good choice for these times and I know this song well.

It did very well at a time that the Bee Gees were just coming onto everyone’s radar. Do you get the sense that maybe they presaged what would happen fifty years hence?

Hi John – yes … I feel ‘Lonely Days’ are what many are experiencing … desperate times for many – and an appropriate choice. Take care – Hilary
