Yes, it’s late. No, I don’t care. I’e been busy the last several days, doing my non-blogging thing. Today is an “ABC” battle using songs called “Call Me.” Here are your choices:
A – Al Green
B – Blondie
C – Chris Montez
There are your choice. Now, here’s what you do:
- Listen to the three songs.
- Decide which song you like the best.
- Vote for your favorite by leaving me a comment with your choice. If you feel like telling us why, feel free.
- Then, visit the other participants and vote in their Battles:
- Stephen at STMcC Presents Battle of the Bands
- Arlee at Tossing It Out
- Mike at Mike’s Ramblings
- Cathy at Curious As A Cathy
- Mary B at Jingle Jangle Jungle
- Debbie at The Doglady’s Den
- Cherdo at Cherdo On The Flipside
- Ai at Ai Love Music

I will announce the winner next Monday, June 8, 2020, so be sure I have your vote by then.
The lines are now open. Good luck to Al, Blondie, and Chris!
Blondie for me.

Great battle and all good versions, but I gotta say, in my mind – Blondie owns this one. Some songs are covered well but they just can’t beat the feeling of the original artist. I saw Blondie in concert and later, just Debbie Harry. Great live performances and it sticks in my brain.
Thanks!

I’ll vote for Chris Montez. I like the slower, smoother pace. Probably an age thing.

I love Blondie and find this the most original to me. I do enjoy the last song by Montez but I could not take Green….blechhh. Blondie is for me

Better late than never (to coin an expression).
I vote for [Link> STARBUCK.
Whaddaya mean “No”?
No?
OK, then I vote for [Link> THESE GUYS.
OK, OK, I’ll play by the rules, damn it! (I hate it when that happens.)
Looking over the competitors before listening to any of them, I thought: I know and don’t like the Blondie song. But I don’t know the Al Green or Chris Montez song. I’ll probably be voting for Al Green.
I listened to Al Green and thought: Yep, I didn’t know this, but I’m protly voting for it.
I listened to about a minute and a half of Blondie, merely to confirm for myself that I STILL dislike Blondie. Yip! I STILL dislike Blondie! GREATLY!!
Then I listened to Chris Montez and when the song got to the chorus, I realized that, of course, I know this song! I’ve heard it many, many times and… sorry ’bout that, Al.

Blondie. Hands down favorite. It’s on a playlist I listen to in my car, and I heard it earlier today. Gotta be a sign 😏

I’m the worst favorite-picker in the world, John, I can’t do it. All three of those songs are great!

Tough one!!!! I think in order of preference it is Al Green, Chris Montez and Blondie, but really it’s tough.

You had some worthy competitors, but my vote goes to BLONDIE. It’s the one I’m most familiar with, and I can remember being in elementary school skating to it at the local rink. Good times.

I like all of these songs. In this Battle I think I’ll go with the song that is most meaningful to me from the perspective of good memories. That song would be the one by Chris Montez. This was on the radio when I was living in Crown Point Indiana and listening to WLS. I can remember hearing it often as I rode in the car with my mother driving us around. I would have been in junior high at the time. Nice memories. Hadn’t heard that song in a very long time.
