Occasionally I’ll remember a singer and realize that I only know one song of theirs, and go out looking for more. Such is the case with Rupert Holmes, whose 1979 song “Escape (The Piña Colada Song)” was a #1 hit for him in 1979. Somehow I missed his followup to that song, 1980’s “Him.” It reached #6 on the Hot 100 and #4 on the Adult Contemporary chart, and as much fun as “Escape” was, this, to me, provokes a more emotional response.

I don’t know this song at all. It’s ok but nothing special..for me that is😁

It was better than his first, for me, that is… 😉

I think I vaguely remember this one. Perhaps not the “happy ending” of Escape is it?

That’s true. But then, sometimes you need the other side.

My sister had this single and the other of course…I haven’t heard it since probably…back then.

It never made the Top 40 in Chicago and I never heard it on any of the “lite rawk!” stations there, either. Or maybe I missed it.

My sister was a top 40 person and usually bad top 40 but this one I liked. Like I said I probably haven’t heard it since then.

This is a good song and new to me.

I actually like this much better than “Escape.” The harmony is more complex and the lyrics have much more emotion.
