Michelle gave us an easy assignment today: Songs that start with the letter “J.” Once I got started, I couldn’t stop until I reached 15. Here they are…

Here’s the playlist, without comments:

  1. Fats Domino, “Jambalaya”
  2. Doris Troy, “Just One Look”
  3. The Beatles, “Julia”
  4. The Doobie Brothers, “Jesus Is Just All Right”
  5. The Steve Miller Band, “The Joker”
  6. Rick Springfield, “Jesse’s Girl”
  7. Al Donohue & His Orchestra (Paula Kelly, vocal), “Jeepers Creepers”
  8. Dean Martin, “Just A Little Bit South Of North Carolina”
  9. Shelley Fabares, “Johnny Angel”
  10. Bobby Sherman, “Julie, Do Ya Love Me”
  11. The Yardbirds with Jeff Beck, “Jeff’s Boogie”
  12. Apollo 100, “Joy”
  13. Al Hirt, “Java”
  14. Carl Perkins, “Just Coastin'”
  15. Tennessee Ernie Ford, “John Henry”

And that’s Monday’s Music Moves Me for June 8, 2020.

Monday’s Music Moves Me is sponsored by X-Mas Dolly, Cathy, Alana, and Stacy, so be sure and visit them, where you can also find the Linky for the other participants.

  1. These are all great selections! I LOVE “Jambalaya” and “Jessie’s Girl” – but I really thought you were probably going to include “Julia Dream”. I was so wrong!

  2. This playlist brought me so much…shall I say it? JOY. From Jesus is Just Alright (had the Doobies’ vinyl album at one time), to Just One Look (it’s been forever) to a couple of tunes I wish I had thought of and am kicking myself. One I totally forgot – the oldest one in the set dating back from the 1700’s: Joy. (The original music’s title would have been a “J”, too.) Thank you.

  3. Dude, I think you posted them all! hahahaha Then one of your readers threw in Christmas… shame on me I didn’t think of that? hahaha Oh my gosh, you thought of them all… even Johnny Angel… now that’s an oldie but a goodie. My brother was 6 yrs. older than I and my mama both loved music and myself of course, but I knew all there hits for their generation too! Now Fats D. hit now that’s a great one to think of I’m sure no one else did. Now as far as I know Julia by the Beatles wasn’t a very big hit if it was at all. I never heard it… & it sounds a bit off key. Anyway, Jesus Is Just All Right, big hit & love it! Jeepers Creepers.. oh yeah, my mama would dance around the house singin’ that one. She tapped danced actually. She was a card.. gotta love her & she loved Dean Martin & so did gramma! They’re both Italian. Gram was born in Sicily. Oh yeah, Donna Reed Show we always watched that one. In fact, the last child Tricia I loved that name & named my first daughter that. Oh yeah, Bobby Sherman big idol back in the day! Wow, so many tunes and Tennesse Ernie Ford Show was always on at our house & we’d all sit around and watch it. GREAT JOB my friend! You’ve ROCKED the house. Have a great day!

    1. “Julia” was frm the white album. It got played occasionally on FM radio, but it wasn’t one of their hits. Glad you enjoyed this!
