Song of the Day: Glen Campbell, “Mary In The Morning”

From Glen’s 1967 album Gentle On My Mind. Glen never released this song as a single, though other singers did, most notably Al Martino: his cover reached #1 on the Easy Listening chart and #27 on the Hot 100. It was written by producer Michael Rashkow and singer-songwriter Johnny Cymbal.

  1. I used to love this song when it first came out and it’s still a great tune. I didn’t know that Campbell also recorded it. I was always familiar with the version by Al Martino.

    1. So do I. It’s amazing how so many guitarists idolized him. Alice Cooper (who was a good friend, believe it or not) said he had rockers coming to him and asking him to introduce them to Glen.
