The Pre-Holiday Week That Was

This edition of The Week That Was is brought to you by Post Super Sugar Crisp cereal. Part of a complete breakfast!

Roughly the equivalent of Kellog’s Sugar Smacks.

The power went out here at about 4:30, which is three hours ago, and Georgia Power says they’re still “assessing the situation.” What that means as far as getting the power back is anyone’s guess. We’ve been unusually lucky, in that we haven’t had many of these the last couple of years, but some rough weather came through and knocked it out. It finally came back on at 8:30, so all is well with the world once again.

Not much else to tell you, so here’s the summary for the week.

We were asked to provide music from around the world. I had fun with this, grabbing music from North America, Asia, Europe, and Africa.

This week’s questions dealt with our criminal tendencies.

My “Bluer Than Blue” battle ended in a tie between Peaches & Herb and Lil Hardin Armstrong, with Michael Johnson bringing up the rear. We’ll have another battle this Wednesday, so be there or be square.

Player was this week’s featured artist.

My one-liner came from a comment left on the Apartment Therapy website.

We were asked what we could invent that would make our lives easier. I responded with a bionic arm and hand.

We checked out WLS’s Silver Dollar Survey on June 28, 1963.

The idea was to start with the line “coffee, tea, or me,” or “a flirty phrase of my own,” ostensibly to write a story. I instead took “coffee, tea, or me” and talked a little about my travel days.

Nothing especialy exciting planned for this week. We’ll have a Battle of the Bands on Wednesday, and I’m going to use a free week on Monday’s Music Moves Me to introduce you to a new musical experience that I’m sure you’ll like. This coming Saturday is Independence Day in the United States, and it’ll be celebrated on Friday, so who knows what I’ll do about that? Apart from that, more of what you’ve come to know and love about this blog, so be sure and tune in!

And that’s a wrap on this edition of The Week That Was. See you in the funny papers!

    1. Our power went out at 4:30 and didn’t come back on until 8:30. I think they had trouble finding what they had to fix, because the originally said the power would be back by 5:45. Weather in Georgia, gotta love it…
