And Where’s My Flying Car? #1LinerWeds

A lot of stuff on the Science Fiction to-do list has never been addressed. Does that seem strange?

One-Liner Wednesday is brought to you each week by Linda Hill and this station. Now this about Buster Brown Shoes. Does your shoe have a boy inside?

  1. We must’ve gotten really distracted. Maybe we’re just not ready for the stars. I love hopeful science fiction, but I’m also very prone to motion sickness.

    1. Did you ever see the movie “Diary of a Mad Housewife” with Carrie Snodgress and Richard Benjamin? At the end of the movie, you realize that she’s been relating the whole story of her affair with a support group. And everyone else in the group starts yelling at her and talking about how their problems are worse, and you realize that no one has been listening to her, they’ve just been biding their time until it was their turn. I think it’s like that: everyone was focused on their own thing and running around with a chip on their shoulder to notice the great things that were being done that advanced scientific thought and engineering capabilities.

      1. I did not see the movie, but appreciate your summary. Sounds sad. I agree that many have been self absorbed and also focused on drama and conflict. I hope we can learn to focus more on things that help all people and the planet.

  2. Hi, John!

Thanks for visiting Shady’s Place today, good buddy! Remember the Casey Kasem quote, β€œKeep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars”? Yep, 2003 came and went, and man still isn’t exploring the deep corners of the universe, at least not up close and personal. I don’t know about you, but I’m still searching for signs of intelligent life on planet earth. πŸ™‚ Remember Smilin’ Ed McConnell and his Buster Brown Gang, one of the earliest kids TV programs and sponsored by Buster Brown Shoes? The show was renamed Andy’s Gang when Andy “Jingles” Devine became its host, and I watched Andy and Froggy the Gremlin every week.

I see that you have something by Chicago posted, so I will check that out, too!

    1. By now, we should have had colonies on the Moon and be exploring Mars, maybe even Jupiter. They say there’s probably a wealth of minerals and ores on the moon, and we’ve never taken advantage of it.

I remember The Buster Brown Gang, but I don’t think we ever watched it.

      Thanks for stopping by!
