Song of the Day: Earth Wind & Fire, “After The Love Is Gone”

Decided to shift gears and feature something by a bunch of guys from Chicago. “After The Love Is Gone” is from Earth Wind & Fire’s ninth studio album, 1979’s I Am. It was the second single from the album, released in July 1979, and reached #2 on both the Hot 100 and the Hot R&B Singles charts in the US, #4 on the UK Singles chart, and #3 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Singles chart that year. The song waws written by David Foster, Jay Graydon, and Bill Champlin, who later was a member of the group Chicago.

    1. I’m not sure what the status of the band is; they’ve lost a couple of members. They’re another band that’s been around more than 50 years, and their stuff still sounds like they recorded for the first time yesterday…
