Song of the Day: Harry Nilsson, “Coconut”

A very silly song from Harry’s 1971 album Nilsson Schmilsson, it was the third single released from the album and reached #8 in the US and #5 in Canada. It’s been used in the movies Reservoir Dogs, Practical Magic, and The Addams Family.

        1. No idea. I always felt badly that everyone believed that Cass choked to death on a ham sandwich even after it was made clear she had a heart attack. That’s just mean.

            1. She had a tremendous voice and she seemed like a sweet lady, the kind you’d want to be around, all personality. Certainly not the kind of person that deserved the crap she got.

  1. This is such a fun song and I love this video. You can tell they are having fun and not taking this very seriously. My brother bought this 45 back then….1970s. I used to play this and his other song…Bertha, Bertha Butt.

        1. I was in high school when that came out, and we’d all go around saying “sock it to me sock it to me sock it to me sock it to me sock it to me sock it to me sock it to me …”

  2. Say “Doctor, ain’t there nothin’ I can take,
I say, Doctor, to relieve this belly ache?
I say, Doctor, ain’t there nothin’ I can take,
I say Doctor! let me get this straight”.

Dang it all… I was headed to bed. Now I’ve got this stuck in my head. Hopefully I’ll manage to get a few winks in before morning πŸ™‚
