Glenn Frey and Jack Tempchin wrote "You Belong To The City" for the TV show Miami Vice (it was in the episode "Prodigal Son"). Glenn played all the instruments here except saxophone, played by session player Bill Bergman, and Michael Huey created the drum track. The song reached #2 on the Hot 100 (behind Starship’s "We Built This City") and the Adult Contemporary chart and #1 on the Top Rock Tracks chart. It appeared on the Miami Vice soundtrack album, which helped it reach #1 on the Hot 200 Albums chart for 11 weeks.
He did some good stuff on his own.

He did, at that. Sad to hear he’s no longer with us…

I didn’t know it did that well.

It did better than “Smuggler’s Blues,” which I think would have done better. That only got to #12.
