Huang chung means "yellow bell" in Chinese, and it’s also the name of the first note in the Chinese musical scale. Jack Hues (real name Jeremy Ryder, vocals and guitar) and Nick Feldman (guitar) are the core of Wang Chung, so named because people couldn’t pronounce huang chung and were calling the band Hung Chung. Though from London, they had their greatest success in the US, placing a couple of hits on the Hot 100 between 1983 and 1987. "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" was their most successful record in North America, reaching #2 on the Hot 100 and #1 in Canada in 1986-87.
I remember jumping on the Wang Chung train for a while in the eighties, but I wasn’t on it long. Fun hearing their music again. Loved “Dance Hall Days”>
