I want to take a minute to note the passing of Helen Reddy. I have to admit, when I first heard "I Am Woman," I thought, "oh, one of those singers" (it was 1972 and I was 16, okay?), but the more I heard her, the better I liked her. She was incredibly successful, with three songs reaching #1 on the Hot 100 and a string of #1’s on the Adult Contemporary chart. "Angie Baby" is by far my favorite of her songs: it reached #1 on the Hot 100 and the Adult Contemporary chart, #3 in Canada, #5 in the UK, and #13 in her native Australia. Requiescat in pace, Helen Reddy (1941-2020).
Hi John – amazing songstress … loved her voice. Stay safe – cheers HIlary

She had a great voice, and save for “I Am Woman” I liked her material.

All of those we grew up with are leaving us one by one. She was very talented…

They’re all in their 70’s, mostly. Ringo is 80, and God knows how old Charlie Watts is. We need to enjoy them while they’re still with us.

My favorite song of hers. She was very successful in the ’70’s then fell off the radar.

She had a bunch back in the ’70’s. She was really popular. (I deleted the extra comment that was exactly like this one. Hope you don’t mind.)

I was telling one of my Facebook friends the other day that Helen Reddy was one of those artists whose songs took me to specific memories. Her music will live on… Probably in terrible covers.

I think it was one of those high school things, where almost every song brings back specific memories. I know that happens to me all the time. I hope that if some singers are tempted to cover her stuff that they think better of it.
