Song of the Day: Chairmen of the Board, “Give Me Just A Little More Time” #rmf

The Chairmen of the Board were from Detroit and were signed to Holland/Dozier/Holland’s Invictus/Hot Wax label (as was 100 Proof (Aged In Soul), who did the song “Somebody’s Been Sleeping”, also in 1970). Lead singer General Johnson was teamed up with Eddie Custis (who left after the second album), Danny Woods and Harrison Kennedy. The single was issued in December 1969 and rose to #3 on the Hot 100, earning a Gold record, and #8 on the R&B chart. They had three more Top 40 hits, and continue to this day, albeit without Johnson, who died in 2010.

  1. I always liked this one…heard it on an oldies channel I listened to before…he had an unusual voice to me…an urgent voice…I liked it.

  2. I really like this song and had no idea what song it would be until I played it. A shame he died and, I bet, too young in my book.
