Song of the Day: Jackie Wilson, “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher And Higher” #rmf

"(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher" was written by Gary Jackson, Raynard Miner, and Carl Smith and recorded by "Mr. Excitement," Jackie Wilson, in 1967. Wilson originally had done the song as a soul ballad, but Carl Davis, the producer, told him that was totally wrong and to jump and go with the drums. Taking the advice, Wilson completed the song in one take. The song reached #6 on the Hot 100 and #1 on the R&B chart, as well as #2 in Canada.

  1. Finally making my rounds.. the past few days have been busy. Another favorite of mine! I really like the Rita Coolidge version, too.

        1. Well, sorry they couldn’t keep the Dodgers out of it. Guess we’re all Tampa Bay fans now…

I’ve been impressed with Sandoval since I learned he’s naturally left-handed, but taught himself to throw right-handed so he could play the other infield positions besides first base. I don’t know what he has in the tank anymore, but if there’s something there, the Braves can use it.

          1. Yes, we are sad about the outcome so go Tampa Bay! They put up a good fight right to the end. It was a nail biter. Those catches by Betts were pretty good, I do admit.
