Got something going with my ankle that I’ll probably have to have the doctor look at. Don’t know how it happened, but I suspect my shoes.
I’ve been trying something new: Doing some of my blog entries on the day rather than the day before (e.g.doing the Top Ten Tuesday post on Tuesday rather than Monday and scheduling it). So, if you get up and your favorite feature isn’t there right away, rest assured it’ll be ready sometime that day. It’s actually less work than I thought it would be.
Let’s take a look at last week, shall we?
Holding off on doing my post until almost everyone had done theirs worked out well. My song was The Beatles’ "Yes It Is," one of those songs you rarely hear. Surprising, as it’s a real beauty.
My Song of the Day posts served double duty as my Rocktober MusicFest posts, as they have all month.
- Sunday: The Undisputed Truth, “Smiling Faces Sometimes”
- Monday: Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, “If You Don’t Know Me By Now”
- Tuesday: The O’Jays, “Back Stabbers”
- Wednesday: MFSB, “TSOP”
- Thursday: Billy Paul, “Me And Mrs. Jones”
- Friday: The Stylistics, “Betcha By Golly, Wow”
- Saturday: Lou Rawls, “You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine”
It was a freebie day on Monday, and I couldn’t decide what to do for it, so I finally came up with Yaorenmao, whose name means "Biting Kitty" in Chinese. She’s a young woman who creates videos of herself dancing to Asian pop tunes. She’s actually quite good…
Had questions about how many people I knew who would help me hide a corpse, the last snack I had, how the weather was, whether I thought something was always here or whether it came from nothing, and what my favorite time of year is. In other words, just your normal Share Your World questions.
We visited radio station WAAY in Little Rock, Arkansas, and recreated their Top Ten from 1966.
Posted a meme that proves beyond reasonable doubt that I have a warped sense of humor.
The prompt I chose had me using "time" as the basis for my post. I talked a little about measuring time, but also talked about good times and bad times, particularly as they relate to losing a pet. No, we haven’t had any recent departures, so I don’t know how I got on the subject.
In my most-recently-concluded battle, between songs named "More," Andy Williams defeated Perry Como by a healthy margin, though Perry more than acquitted himself.
Steve Winwood was my latest person that’s been involved with multiple acts.
We were asked to come up with a word that starts with the letter "m" and write a post around that word. My word was "maybe."

Tomorrow on Monday’s Music Moves Me, we’re to choose a country and share some music from there. Those of you who have been following the blog or who know me can probably guess what country I’ve chosen. The rest of the week depends on what prompts I get and what I decide on for Tuesday and Friday. Should be an interesting experioence, so be here and join us!

And that’s a wrap on this edition of The Week That Was. See you in the funny papers!
Thanks for this update, John. Even though I try to catch you every day, some days I miss and this week it was the Share Your World. Great answers. Did you catch that baseball game last night? We were screaming here! I read that Hunter Pence was in a restaurant and when the Rays won, he bought everybody in the place a drink! What a guy, huh?

It was a busy week, John, and I hope what’s going on with your ankle is nothing serious.

I’m pretty sure it’s not serious. I was breaking in a new pair of shoes, and they were rubbing against the back of my ankle. I guess I didn’t realize it was cutting into the skin back there, and I think it got infected. Through the wonders of technology, Mary’s going to send the doctor a picture in the morning and see what he says.

Hi John – I hope your ankle is a temporary blip (pain) and can be resolved easily: good luck. Well – if you’ve made your life easier by posting on the day – why not … so pleased it works. I enjoy the songs you post … and get to hear music I’d forgotten about … take care and the best this week – Hilary

Mary got a picture of it and will send it to the doctor and see what he says. I saw the picture (I can’t see the back of that foot) and it’s ugly but doesn’t look like a major laceration, although he might want to put stitches in it.
Glad you like the tunes. I like bringing them every day.
