Kool & The Gang got their start in Jersey City, New Jersey, founded by bassist Robert "Kool" Bell and his brother, tenor saxophonist Ronald. They had some early success in the mid-’70’s, faded from the public eye, then experienced a renaissance in the early ’80’s. They’ve experimented with a number of different musical styles, but in their early days were primarily a funk band. "Hollywood Swinging" reached #6 on the Hot 100, #1 on the R&B chart, and #15 in Canada in 1974.
Great song and I love this group! Excellent mewsic to dance to.

Never heard this one John but I like them. My sister had the single “Jungle Boogie” which I heard a million times…

This was the song right before “Hollywood Swinging.” Very good band: I’m listening to their “Summer Madness” (an instrumental) as I write this.
