Song of the Day: Rose Royce, “Car Wash”

Car Wash was a 1976 film that was a look at the goings-on at a car wash on a hot July day. The cast included Richard Pryor, The Pointer Sisters, Franklin Ajaye, Ivan Dixon, and Bill Duke. The soundtrack was recorded by the band Rose Royce, who released the title track as their first single. It reached #1 on the Hot 100 and on the Hot Soul Singles charts, and #3 on the National Disco Action Top 30 chart, #1 in Canada, and #9 in the UK.

    1. It wasn’t a bad movie. There was a lot of very funny stuff in it, and a few serious moments. It wasn’t a cinematic masterpiece, but it was good entertainment and a good story. What more could you really want, CGI?

  1. I didn’t know this was a movie, but I do know the song – we used to have a line dance to it (at least, we did at school).
