Song of the Day: Parliament, “Flash Light”

Parliament has a long and somewhat complicated history which saw them changing their name to Funkadelic in a dispute with their record company, then splitting into two bands, Parliament and Funkadelic, which featured the same musicians but playing two different kinds of funk. Anyway, "Flash Light" was from their 1977 album Funkentelechy vs. the Placebo Syndrome. It reached #16 on the Hot 100 and #1 on the R&B chart in 1978, and was certified Gold.
