A couple of recent faves…
Lemonade The last time I responded to a "faves" prompt, I was talking about how much I like the V8 Splash drinks. Well, tasty: yes, cheap: no, so we decided to go with something less expensive. Turns out that the house-brand lemonade is just as satisfying, and a whole lot cheaper.
Instant Coffee Mary usually brews enough coffee in the morning for the whole day, but since we’re spending a lot more time at home, I’m drinking a lot more of it, or sometimes Mary will need more coffee and we’ll go through it a lot faster. When that happens and I want more coffee, I drink good ol’ Taster’s Choice instant coffee. Kind of like frozen pizza, it’s gotten a lot better over the years, although honestly I always kind of liked it. Reminds me of Grandma Holton, who used to drink it all the time.
Vaporwave The best description I’ve heard of vaporwave is that it’s like drowning in a shopping mall fountain. There’s a lot of it on YouTube, and more on Soundcloud and Bandcamp. Here’s an example.
Other "Odd" Music I’ve also rediscovered production music, which is music that is licensed for things like industrial films and commercials. The YouTube account Raw And Real Retail uses it in many of their walking tours of shopping malls, like this one.
And you just can’t beat good old Muzak sometimes…
You’re probably sitting there saying to yourself "John’s flipped his lid." And you’re probably right. Thanks to our little virus friend, I spend a lot of time at home on the computer, and more often than not I’m listening to music, and I need something that I can listen to that’s instrumental and unobtrusive enough that I’m not distracted from what I’m doing. Ergo, music that’s there to be ignored.
So, there are some faves of mine. What about you?

I definitely love cats. Our cat of 20 yrs died a year ago this Nov and my my Mom passed a few weeks ago in Oct weeks ago in Oct and now with no further travel obligations, we’re free to adopt a new adult kitty. We’re expecting to visit the local no-kill shelter in early Dec. I had actually hoped in 2020 to visit her more often thru the year, but covid effectively terminated that plan.

We’ve always had at least one cat in the almost 43 years we’ve been married, but we’ve decided to wait at least a year after our last one goes before considering adopting another. Whether we actually make it the whole year is another question…

I’ve always liked Taster’s Choice. Never get it these days, but I guess I would if I didn’t want to brew coffee anymore. Back in the 80’s when I was on the road I got into drinking Kava. I could heat water in the motel room and make some instant Kava. Back then I don’t recall seeing coffee makers in the rooms–or at least not often.
I wonder if they still make Kava. I haven’t noticed it in the past many years, but then I guess I haven’t been looking for it.
Ah, Muzak! Brings back fond memories of the WEZK radio station that I used to listen to from Knoxville TN. WEZK–The home of easy listening.

They sell Kava at Amazon. As to the grocery store, I couldn’t say.
There was a beautiful music radio station in Chicago, WFMF, that was owned by the Marshall Field family and was used as the ambient music in their stores. I thought that was the coolest thing. Of course, the radio station had to run commercials and their weekly EBS test, so they got that, too…

Some of my favorite things this week are ice cream (two new-to-me flavors are Cinnabon and Fudge Truffle), new Grey’s Anatomy episodes, and finding a concealer I think might actually work for me.
You introduced me to something new this week: Vaporware. I’d never heard of it, but it’s oddly relaxing.

When you wrote that vaporwave was like “like drowning in a shopping mall fountain” I thought…what even does that mean? And then I listened to it and was like “ohhhh yeah that is exactly what it’s like” lolol

I’ve been listening to it almost nonstop for a couple of days and man, did I ever have some weird dreams, even for me. I loved it!

I think it gets a bad name. Yes, some of the arrangements are ludicrous, but there are worse options.

Once we finish our morning pot of coffee, I like a cup or two of instant, as well. And yes, they have come a long way with the taste. Hey, it doesn’t hurt to find new entertainment. Rock on!

I like to shake it up sometimes and listen to something a bit odd, or at least not something I would normally listen to. It keeps your mind active.
