Doo-wop singer Joe ("Little Joe") Cook was born in Philadelphia 98 years ago today. In 1957, Joe wrote the song "Peanuts" for his group, Little Joe & The Thrillers, and sang the lead in a falsetto voice. It reached #22 on the national pop chart and earned the group an appearance on American Bandstand. Though it failed to chart on the R&B chart, Cook’s falsetto is said to have influenced Frankie Valli and Lou Christie.
I didn’t think I would know this song at all but I do. How I know it, no idea.

You had probably heard it (or a song like it) at some point and “filed it away,” so to speak.
