Elias McDaniel, known far and wide as blues singer/guitarist Bo Diddley, would be 92 today. "I’m A Man," one of his originals, was the flip side of "Bo Diddley," his signature song. The double-A side single reached #1 on the R&B chart in 1955. Muddy Waters covered the song many times over the years, including on his 1977 album Hard Again.
I love Bo and his square guitar. I didn’t know he wrote it either.

I always thought of him more as a rocker, but he was a tremendous blues player.

I never realized Bo had written it. I figured either Muddy Waters (who did a great version) or Willie Dixon (because he had written so many others like it) had.

That’s a different song than this one. Chicago did a cover of The Spencer Davis Group’s, which in turn was covered by Leonid and Friends. This one was covered by Muddy Waters. Both are great songs.
