Singer-songwriter John Denver would be 77 years old today. "I’m Sorry" was released in 1975 and became his last #1 hit, reaching the top of the Hot 100, Adult Contemporary and Country charts in the US and the top of the Canadian Pop and Adult Contemporary charts and #5 on the Canadian Country chart. The flip side, "Calypso," also received considerable Top 40 airplay.
I always liked John Denver. He took a lot of knocks for being John Denver…he was a great songwriter and musician. I liked his acting also.

He had this image of being a little dorky, but he wrote some remarkable songs and had a pretty good voice, and played enough guitar to get by.

Yea his songwriting and voice was his main thing…Rocky Mountain High and Sunshine on my Shoulders are classics…and I would include Country Roads…and I loved him in the movie Oh God

While I wasn’t a big fan, I felt a certain amount of loss when I heard he had died. in this day and age, 77 isn’t very old.

I was a big fan. Played “An Evening with John Denver” until the record wore out.

Played the grooves right off it, did you? I know what that’s like…

To me, it was a huge loss when he passed away. I still miss his work that could have been.

And you know he’d still be writing songs to this day. He would have been good for about 200 songs or more…
