Bandleader, violinist, vocalist, songwriter, and husband of Charo Xavier Cugat would have been 121 years old today. "Perfidia," which means "Perfidy" in English, was written by the Mexican songwriter Alberto Dominguez in 1939 and became a hit for Cugat and the Waldorf-Astoria Orchestra in 1941. Later, in 1960, The Ventures recorded a rock version that reached #18 on the Hot 100.
My first Google search of 2021: “What is perfidy?” Not sure I believe the answer.

I love this song. I picture dancing to this, with, of course, Fred Astaire. Happy New Year!
