Today would be country singer/songwriter/musician Roger Miller’s 85th birthday. Roger wrote and recorded "King Of The Road" in late 1964, and it reached #1 on the Country chart, #4 on the Hot 100, and #1 on the Easy Listening chart in the US and #1 in the UK in 1965. It’s been covered many times since.
Love King of the road

I have loved Roger Miller since childhood. Thank you for sharing this.
(Also, I didn’t know he was my birthday twin until today!)

I’ve always liked this track…and I remember the King of the Road hotel that was built in Nashville that Miller partly owned. I would pass it going to my grandmothers with my dad.

I didn’t realize he had a hotel by that name. Come to think of it, I’ve only ever been through Nashville, never actually in town…

When my dad and mom got a divorce in the early seventies my mom actually worked there for a little while…she met Miller there. It was the tallest Hotel in Nashville at the time….Well I got us way off track John! Sorry about that…but some songs trigger my memory.

It’s all stream of consciousness here. Don’t worry about it.
